A New Way to Approach a Healthier Lifestyle

There are so many things out there to get your attention. I have found out that there is not one cookie cutter remedy that is suitable for every single person. The reason we try eighteen to seventy seven different things in our lifetime and nothing seems to stick, is because we have a tendency to feel that because something worked for another person that it has to be what will work for me. In my life I remember trying the shake of the 80’s that you would have a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and then get to eat a small dinner. You literally starved most of the day. There were fads through the years with breathing techniques that were supposed to help you lose so many pounds in a month. Other plans that you would buy frozen meals and go to a class once a month. The list could go on and on. Do you know what one thing is common with all of these? They only work while you are using the plan itself (even then they might not). As soon as you stop, the weight comes back on. Why wouldn’t we all want to find that one thing that works just right, just for you? I started on a path to a healthier lifestyle a while ago and I am finding that it’s a learning experience, but I believe in the end I will have something that is right for me and will be long lasting. You need to develop new ways of thinking, new approaches to health, food, and fitness, and be determined to make it work. So where do you start? Start slow. Every person is different. Every body is different. One slow way to begin is to increase your water intake. Try to slowly start getting away from sugary drinks. You want to get to a place in your life where you can once in a while still enjoy a coca cola, only for a special occasion. Stop looking to programs, ads, magazines, fad diets, and quick fixes to fix you. Get a notebook that you can keep track of what you learn as you go. My doctor started with me and had me read the book ‘The Obesity Code’ by Dr. Fung. Now, please hear me on this – I personally could NOT follow this book to a T. What my doctor told me was that I should find different pieces from different ideas and use them in my plan. Learn more about your foods, learn how they affect you, try new things, etc. I will use this blog page to provide to you some great ideas that hopefully help you on a journey to a long lasting healthier life!
